Has Australia Boycotted Zach Braff?

The other day I was perusing Zach Braff's profile on Myspace and his wonderfully written blogs. I read some of the many adoring comments he receives daily from fans all over the world. Whenever there's a new posting on his blog, I scramble to read it. I wish he could do one every day...but sometimes there are weeks or months in between entries.

That got me to thinking...Scrubs is not advertised on TV here in Australia anymore, we didn't get his last two films in cinemas (The Last Kiss, The Ex), and half the people here don't know who I'm talking about when I say his name. A film of his that did come here, Chicken Little, led some (even professional) critics to say 'voiced by relative unknown' ...

When Garden State came to cinemas here, thankfully, it did well. DVD sales were also quite good. I myself own a copy of ZB's masterpiece. Friends of mine who like his work will go out of their way to find it, including downloading (sometimes illegally) the various films and Scrubs episodes they are so desperate to see.

Zach Braff is quite well known in Hollywood as a great comedian and heartfelt actor/filmmaker. From mediocre beginnings on television (his first role was in an episode of The Babysitter's Club according to IMDB.com) to his well known alter-ego JD on Scrubs and then his critically acclaimed vanity project, Garden State, Braff continues to grow as an artist and as a star. Why then is Australia Boycotting ZB, as he is fondly referred to by his some 300,000 friends on Myspace? Why is he known as 'that guy from Scrubs'?

I'm entering a plea now to the Australian people. Introduce yourself to the young charming gentleman by going out and renting his movies or collections of Scrubs eps. He is a writer, comedian, actor, director and all around nice guy. If you don't believe me, go have a look at his Myspace page. Read the blogs! (He also has great taste in music if you're interested...see Garden State soundtrack or Scrubs soundtracks)

Perhaps if ZB behaved like Britney Spears, more people would know who he is. If that's the case, I hope Aussies never find out about the wonder that is Zach Braff. (But I still hope you all do...because he's amazing)

I agree entirely. I think ZB is an Amazing actor and should be regognised better here in Australia. ZB is Easily My Favourite Actor and Scrubs is Easily My Favourite Show, He is One Of The Funnniset People On TV

Hey thanks Joelman! He's very entertaining! I wish the writer's strike would end (as in the big corps pull their heads out of their asses) so we can see more ZB. He said season 7 of Scrubs may never be finished if it doesn't end soon...
