Review: Juno

Stay in School

JUNO

Starring: Ellen Page, Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman

Dir By: Jason Reitman

The Gist: A quirky teen falls pregnant and decides to give the kid up for adoption to the perfect couple.

Quirky is the perfect word to describe Juno, both the girl and the film. Former stripper and writer Diablo Cody has probably seen her fair share of interesting characters, and that richness of experience is pumped right into this film.

I don't really have much to say about Juno other than the simplicity of the filming, the uber pop culture teen speak and the shattered image of perfect suburban America all blend together to make one heck of a little film that could.Boil it down and you'll end up with just a big pile of good old fashioned love.

It's been out for a few weeks now and it's still #3 at the box office in the USA. I think the stellar script and amazing performances really attest to the film's success.

Ivan Reitman's son Jason has really found his calling. Juno is this year's Little Miss Sunshine, yet slightly more clever and less depressing.

Juno is more straightforward than all the hype might suggest, but it's that quality that makes it such a gem.
