I don't blog anymore. I don't. But I wanted to mark the awfulness of this year by highlighting a life ended too soon.
Chadwick Boseman had cancer for four years. While he filmed and promoted Black Panther, 21 Bridges, Da 5 Bloods, and more, while he gave time to charities and night time talk shows, while he teased a movie he'd never star in, he was undergoing treatment for colon cancer.
What lesser beings we are. I'm beyond humbled that this man gave us his four years. In a time that would have been totally acceptable to hide away, to just focus on getting better, he gave of himself for us. During a global pandemic, he continued to share himself through interviews, appearances, fundraisers, and social media. During a time when black people are being slaughtered for the colour of their skin, a time that in America has never ended since the first ship from Africa landed on those shores, he gave of himself.
What lesser beings we are.
Rest in power.
