Movie Minute

Ok so I just saw Lady in the Water.

I avoided it at first because of the Village. After seeing that I kind of figured M.Night had sold out. Boy, was I wrong!

So the story was written by M Night Shyamalan for his kids. It is, then one would assume, a kid's movie.

Why did so many people see this expecting something different?

This movie reminded me of the stories I used to make up as a kid as well as stories my Mom would make up for me.

The problem with people today is that they've lost all innocence and their imagination has died. Kids start having sex as soon as their lower halves come alive and sometimes even before that, go figure.

Now I love an R rating as much as the next adult, but it's just as easy for me to revert back to the age of 5 as it is to enjoy Bruce Willis blowing stuff up.

Lady in the Water was an incredibly imaginative tale and it's the kind of story that helps kids be better adults. I loved it and I can't wait to show it to some little tyke one day.

First of all, nice blog! I'm loving your movie reviews. :)

But Lady in the Water? Hated it. Hated, loathed, and despised it. The whole "world's gone to hell in a handbasket" concept is overdone and overstated, IMHO. But what really got me is the part where she tells M Night's character of his future fate is what did it in for me. She even tells him WHEN it will happen. "Uh gee thanks!" Can you imagine knowing your own fate? What a burden that would be.
